IVF World's 2023Hosted in Samoa
2023 International Va’a Federation World Distance Championships
With the IVF World Long Distance Championships coming to Samoa’s shores in August 2023, the Association is excited to host such an auspicious event.
The Government of Samoa is the event’s strongest advocate, and shares the Association’s dream to promote and grow our sport, one which is intrinsic to the voyages of old and deeply encompassing the cultural aspects of Samoan culture.
The Va’a as it is dearly known in Samoa, is also an aspect of the iconic Samoan male tattoo depicting Samoans and all voyagers alike in their ocean journeys throughout the Pacific Ocean.
Entry Fee
The entry fee par paddler is $150 US Dollars
Venue
The venue will be the Samoa Tourism Authority (STA) grounds on the waterfront in Apia. Further information regarding entry deadlines and event information will follow over coming weeks.

Categories
The following categories will be recognized:
- Junior 16 (Minimum age 11) (reduced distance)*
- Junior 19 (minimum age 14)
- Open (minimum age 16)
- Master 40
- Master 50
- Master 60
- Master 70 (reduced distance)
- Master 75 (reduced distance)*
- Master 80 (reduced distance) *
- Para (Mixed V6, reduced distance)
*New additions:
- Countries may enter one V6 team per gender
- Countries may enter one V1 paddler per gender
- Para Va’a V1 will include VL2, VL3 and IVF’s VL4 categories with one entry per gender
- Para Va’a V6 will include VL1, VL2, VL3 and IVF’s VL4 categories with one entry being mixed
